Nikon’s S1000pj Compact Digicam Incorporates Projector



Nikon has just introduced a compact digital camera that incorporates a digital projector so you can recreate the experience of sitting everyone down in your darkened living room to see your latest batch of slides from last month’s family vacation. The Nikon S1000pj retails for $429. For that price, you get a 12-Mpixel camera with a 5x optical zoom and lots of image-processing bells and whistles such as image stabilization, “skin softening” (de-wrinkle/de-blemish mode), and an automated “best-shot” mode that takes as many as 10 photos in quick succession and then selects the sharpest one.







By far, the coolest feature for this camera has to be the built-in projector. The projector has VGA (640x480-pixel) resolution and can throw an image onto a surface as large as 40 inches measured diagonally and as far away as 2 meters. (Note the mixed English/metric units.
